Nuff Said Interview

Jake: Yo what’s up! Can you introduce yourself and what you play in the band?

Jalon: Yo what up! My name is Jalon and I do vocals for a band called Nuff Said

Jake: You guys are fairly new and came out with an insanely hard debut EP last year. Can you tell me a bit about the band and your process for making that record?

Jalon: Yea, so we are a band that comes from Flint, MI. We mainly represent Detroit, which is where the scene mostly is at. So we were actually in a band called Gripthumb, and it was shoegaze and we wanted to make heavier music so I swapped instruments with Brady (our drummer) and he plays drums and I do vocals now.

Jake: When writing do you guys have any main influences behind your sound?

Jalon: Our main influences are kinda everywhere but I can list some off. Pain of Truth, Fatal Realm, Stick to Your Guns, Gridiron, etc. it’s a weird mixture especially with the new EP coming out.

Jake: The first bit of the sample in the track ‘COLD WATER’ is executed perfectly and is too sick. Whose genius idea was it or how did it come about?

Jalon: The idea behind the sample was actually our bass player Andre. We originally were gonna have the song just end after playing the original sample, but I had the idea to stick to the classic trope of slowing the breakdown down but adding a little surprise twist.

Jake: What can people expect when they pull up to a Nuff Said show?

Jalon: It depends on where you’re from, but here in Detroit or MI in general, our shows I would say are super fun, and the community is one to die for. There definitely is your fair share of ass beating but in the end it’s just a fun ass show.

Jake: What’s next from you guys? New music? Tour?

Jalon: Yeah, so we are going to Sweden and we are basically done with the new ep coming this fall :)

Jake: If you had to recommend one hardcore record to someone new to the genre, what would it be?

Jalon: Oh man I would recommend listening to “Songs To Scream At The Sun" by Have Heart. I know it’s not anything similar to Nuff Said, but Have Heart has some of the most emotional and hard hitting aspects of hardcore. You gotta listen to the bands that inspired the favorites nowadays.

Jake: You got any hardcore hot takes you care to share?

Jalon: I don’t really have any hot takes other than I think some bands are over rated lol

Jake: Shout out some bands you’ve been fucking with lately that deserve some hype!

Jalon: Oh man I got some sick ass bands to shoutout. Shout out to Dbloc, Anhedonia, No Leash, Ascendancy, The Sissy Boys, Sidestep, Bad Beat, Kings Command, and Will to Power. All legendary bands from MI.
