GOD'S LAST WISH INTERVIEW

Jake: Yo thanks for taking the time to answer these Qs. Can you introduce yourself and what you play in the band??

Christian: Hey I’m Christian, I’m one of the band’s two frontmen, and I do all the false chord vocals.

Jake: ‘On Times of Promising End…’ goes crazy. Such a sick debut. How long did it take to come together and who spearheaded this project?

Christian: This project started back in August 2024. Josh and I spearheaded the project, we had the idea of starting a conceptual metalcore band after coming up with the name.

Jake: It’s got such a nostalgic sound, reminiscent of some of the best metalcore from the early 2000’s.. Did you have any influences or direction in mind when writing & recording?

Christian: We were definitely listening to a lot of As Blood Runs Black and Prayer for Cleansing. We just wanted to keep it pretty technical and hard hitting while staying in a certain lane of early 2000’s metalcore that we all love.

Jake: What’s the general theme of the music and the lyrics?

Christian: The whole band is a concept! God’s Last Wish is actually a theory that God was dying when they made the earth and put all of its energy into each one of us in hopes to become a God. Each song’s lyrics look at a different aspect of this theory. The Echoes of a God Forgot basically describes an abandoned and destroyed heaven. Divine Insurrection looks at the aspect of human upheaval against faith within themselves and the world. Metamorphosis of the Flesh is written from the standpoint of humanity’s own perception of a dying God and their newfound power to become a God.

Jake: What’s next for you guys? Any plans to keep pushing it and play some shows?

Christian: What’s next for us right now is Be About It Fest in Montreal. We also have something else in the works in Hamilton that will be announced at some point, in memory of Josh. Beyond shows, we want to move forward as a band while honouring Josh.

Jake: Shout out some bands you’ve been fucking with lately that deserve some hype?

Christian: heavenscoldhands, Mace, Start Today, Ascendancy, Eskrima, and Dawn of Sorrow.

Jake: Lastly, I just wanna say mad love to you guys and of course to Josh. This record is a reflection of his talent and he’ll always be remembered as one of the best to do it, and for the impact he’s made on so many of us.

Christian: Really appreciate the words dude. This record holds a lot of memories for all of us. Being able to finally put this record out into the world in honour of Josh has meant the world to us.
